Wake Surfing for Beginners
Keeping your Balance

Once you get up on a wakesurfing, you'll want to learn how to stay up. In order to reach your ultimate goal of surfing you will need to be able to control your surf board. And that's where this article comes in. By the end, you'll better understand where to place your feet on the surfboard. We'll also give you some tips on how to steer on a wake surfboard.
For getting up, your foot placement isn't too vital. So long as you have them in the right ballpark, you should be able to get up. But to progress from there, you'll need to place your feet a little more precisely.
The following picture depicts what your foot-placement should look like (although the front-to-back position is a bit variable which we will cover in the article about how to get slack on a wakesurf board).

As you can see, your center of gravity will be slightly farther towards the back than the front and slightly farther over your heels than your toes. You want your feet to be parallel to each other and perpendicular to the edge of the board.
Steering is as simple as leaning. If you lean forward over your toes, the toeside edge of your board will dig into the water and you will go forward. Conversely, leaning on your heels will make you go backward.
The next step is going closer to and farther away from the boat. So read on and learn how to get slack.
